How clans get set-up post wipe, Charitable Rust, Super Mario in Rust, and more.Welcome
The header image was created as a thumbnail for Frost’s ‘The Snowball Effect’ video. It’s a video that compresses 6-7 hours of a small group getting to grips with a server post-wipe, turning a small shack into a larger base. If you ever wonder how a large base can spring up with seemingly little effort on the first day of a wipe, here’s how.
You know, I always thought the original image was called ‘The Ascent of Man’. I had a joke lined up for it (“tee hee, ‘ass scent'”), but it’s in fact called ‘March of Progress’. Try as I might, I haven’t been able to pun on that phrase. Best I came up with was ‘March of Progr-ass’, which is confusing and upsetting. I apologise.Charitable Rust
It’s that time of the year again. Yes, I’m talking about November, the most charitable month of the year according to my friends on Facebook who have moustaches. Now because we haven’t added facial hair to the game, the Rust community needs another route into the charitable super highway, in this case gathering withRustafied for a 12 hours live stream Sunday the 20th. As per the Charitable Rust website, the stream will start at 11am EST and all proceeds will go to Doctors Without Borders. There will be events, prizes, and you might even get to meet your favourite Youtuber on there.Mariust Somewhere in reddit’s collective hivemind an idea developed, and it had nothing to do with politics or cat pics. No, it went like this: ‘I must post Super Mario related buildings onto the sub’, and thus it occurred. Two separate posts about SMB-inspired buildings popped up. First up, Geekea discovered a Mighty Boo sitting on a hill on a server, like a haunted Hollywood sign.
Then Orc-Peon almost certainl y created Mario and Yoshi in tribute to the initial post. That’s how these things go.
I like how strange these things look as they loom over the Rust landscape. They don’t fit the aesthetic, but in the best possible way. The Boo beside the towers is really fascinating.Lever-Action Rifle Concept
I really liked the look of Mikillding’s lever-action rifle. There’s a few fun details in this, but none more so than the scissors being used as the lever.
It’s probably over or under powered, though. I preferred the Legacy version.Debagging
An unboxing as only Rust can manage: i.e., it’s emptying out bags, and nothing good comes from it. PsiSyndicate’s disappointment is palpable, but I have to include it as its the first of its kind relating to Rust. That and I find disappointment amusing.
It’ll get better.
KCmo Pays It Forward
This is nice, even if it’s almost certainly going to enrage anyone who hates tricky Rust builds. KCmo has discovered a Rust builder on Youtube and made a video highlighting his work. Guru’s build is based on a previous design, but spun out into his own creation.
Here’s KCmo covering the layout of the foundation.
And here’s the build from Guru’s PoV.
Good stuff. I found the top-down video incredibly relaxing. I hope you do every video with that sort of view. And Finally…
That’s ‘Gary’, not ‘garry’.Get In Touch
Think you’re working on something awesome? Tell me all about it. Now’s the time to share your base designs, or get into the growing Raid Cam business, or show off a game-mode from your server, or if your server has an interesting theme.
I can’t respond to everything, but I read every comment and take it all in.
